Project Blaze Plume

In 2015, we embarked on our journey of customizing the BMW R NineT. This is now our third BMW R NineT project. Even before BMW Motorrad introduced the R NineT Scrambler, we saw the potential of this motorcycle. Our first project, Project Chocolate Slider, was highly appreciated by BMW Motorrad and even featured on BMW’s official website. Following that, our second project, Project Autobahn Streak, explored a different style — our interpretation of a Cafe Racer, which also garnered admiration from many enthusiasts.

During the creation of these two motorcycles, we frequently encountered the same questions from customers:

• “I love your fairing! Do you sell it separately?”

• “I really like your headlight! Can I buy it individually?”

• “I love the fuel tank design. Is it available for purchase?”

These inquiries inspired numerous ideas and prompted us to conduct extensive market research. We eventually concluded:

• Many people have their own ideas about customization but may not be able to afford a fully customized motorcycle.

• Some may only want to make minor modifications rather than investing significantly in a complete build.

• In regions like Taiwan, where strict modification regulations exist, vehicles must pass annual inspections to restore their appearance to factory condition. For motorcycles over five years old, inspections are required twice a year. Ironically, these inspections often overlook emissions testing.

We believe that customization is an inherent human nature, a personal expression, and the realization of creative ideas. Like clothing, it extends one’s life attitude and personality. With this belief, we decided to start a new journey — making our designs accessible through mass production. This presented a new challenge, as creating mass-producible products required more considerations and complexities than building a single custom motorcycle.

This project, named Blaze Plume, symbolizes “a feather that doesn’t burn in flames” or “a quill pen enduring the fires of hell.” The name reflects the significant challenges and time invested in this project compared to our previous two builds. More importantly, it aims to prove that customization is an extension of self-awareness and human nature. We hope these kits will inspire everyone to see customization as a meaningful and creative endeavor.

A Journey of Cultural and Creative Inspiration

In 2007, when I first set foot in the United States — a country that embraces and celebrates vehicle customization — I fell in love with this freedom and inclusivity. In 2014, our Project Ivory Comet won the MOD Harley Champion award at J&P Cycle’s Ultimate Builder Contest. This experience taught us how fulfilling it is to turn a small idea into a tangible creation.

We firmly believe that customization is human nature and a source of creative inspiration. It is our hope to bring this culture and spirit of inclusivity not only to the United States but to the rest of the world, especially to countries where vehicle modifications are still restricted. Through this project, we aim to inspire more positive perspectives and attitudes toward customization.

This is Project Blaze Plume, and we invite you to join us in advancing the culture of motorcycle customization globally.

Special thanks to Roland from Roland Sands Design for providing their exquisite wheels to complement our design.
